  • Description: As the cemetery was being cleared, these old markers lay scattered all around the cemetery grounds. They were removed by builders, and where they all went is unclear. This one was found discarded and away from the cemetery, and a decision was made to save it. With the help of Bedford records office it was possible to find out who occupies grave number 2532. In the burials book of 1904 it reads: Burials in the burial ground for the lunatic asylum for the counties of Bedford, Hertford, and Huntingdon, in the parish of Stotfold, in the said county of Bedford, in the year 1904. 2532, book entry No 932, James Bennet Turner, old attendant, of Asylum Road, Stotfold, Baldock. Buried Oct 13th, aged 53 years, ceremony was performed by A.B. Attkinson, chaplain.
