This is a small and fragile programme from the staff New Years Ball, 1914, courtesy of Molly Jennings.

The staff balls were very big, lavish, affairs with no expense spared. The finest courses, deserts, beers, wines, spirits and entertainment were on offer to the guests. The asylum employed talented chefs and grew most of its own vegetables and fruit. It also had its own farm and dairy so fresh meat and milk was guaranteed. The programme shows that there was plenty of dancing, with the asylum orchestra playing all the music with a one hour interval, probably to dine and recover.
