- Item: Fairfield Hospital alarm panic button.
- Description: This is an interesting piece of memorabilia. It is an electronic personal alarm given to staff working in the secure unit at Fairfield Hospital, circa 1990. It was worn around the wrist so if the member of staff was attacked or needed help controlling a patient, one press of the soft touch button in the middle of the unit would send a signal to a central alarm within the hospital. This would sound off within the ward and hopefully help would soon be at hand. The âTâ symbol on the unit suggests that these were made by British Telecom.
- Comment: Worn on the wrist powered by BT, for those working in M9 secure ward.
